## Ganzheitliches Lernen

Zalán hat heute Geburtstag. Er hat sich einen Igel-Kuchen gewünscht. Zalán und Csongor dürfen beim Backen mithelfen. Das gemeinsame Kuchenbacken eröffnet den Kindern unzählige Lerngelegenheiten. Sie erfahren nicht nur, welche Zutaten in den Kuchen kommen und wie dieser entsteht, sondern erleben auch, wie eine Waage oder ein Mixer funktioniert. Das Abfüllen des Zuckers, das Anschalten der Waage und das Halten des Mixers erfordern feinmotorisches Geschick. Zwischendurch darf auch mal genascht werden. Dabei erfahren die Kinder, wie der Kuchenteig oder die einzelnen Zutaten schmecken. Csongor interessiert sich besonders für Zahlen und Gewichte. Die Mutter erklärt daher, dass zwölf Dekagramm hundertzwanzig Gramm entsprechen. Beim Aufschreiben des Rezepts übt er sich zudem in der Schriftsprache. Aber auch im sozialen Bereich profitieren die Brüder: sie lernen, gemeinsam an etwas zu arbeiten, sich abzuwechseln und abzusprechen. Die Liste an Lernerfahrungen könnte noch beliebig verlängert werden. Es sind solch alltägliche Situationen, die es den Kindern ermöglichen, ihr Wissen in verschiedensten Bereichen zu erweitern.

## Teilhaben und Mitwirken

Beim Backen sind Zalán und Csongor mit viel Eifer dabei. Zalán denkt mit und fragt nach, wenn er unsicher ist oder etwas nicht versteht. „Warum nehmen wir so einen grossen Löffel?“, „Ist soviel gut?“, „Darf ich das hineingeben?“ Csongor will ganz genau wissen, wie der Kuchen gemacht wird, und schreibt sich gleich das Rezept auf. Die Mutter unterstützt diese Eigeninitiative, indem sie ihm Auskunft auf seine Fragen gibt. Auch Kristóf ist auf dem Arm der Mutter dabei und kann das Geschehen mitverfolgen. So ermöglicht die Mutter allen drei Kindern ihrem Alter entsprechend das Partizipieren am Familiengeschehen. Partizipation ist ein Prozess, der von den Erwachsenen eine Grundhaltung erfordert, welche die Beiträge und den Einfluss von Kindern als wertvoll akzeptiert und schätzt. Indem die Mutter die Kinder in alltägliche Situationen wie das Kuchenbacken einbezieht, ermöglicht sie ihnen eine aktive Mitgestaltung des Alltags. Dadurch fühlen sich die Kinder zugehörig, nützlich und wertvoll.

## Erfahrungslernen im Alltag des Kindes

Frühkindliche Bildung lässt sich nicht mit Instruktion und Wissensvermittlung nach dem Plan der Erwachsenen fördern. Kleine Kinder wollen erstens selber tätig sein und ausprobieren. Zweitens benötigen sie dabei wohldosierte Anleitung und Antworten auf ihre Fragen. Die Mutter ermöglicht den Buben Erfahrungslernen, indem sie diese beim Kuchenbacken aktiv mithelfen lässt. So darf Zalán etwa selbst den Knopf an der Waage drücken, mit dem Löffel Zucker abfüllen und den Teig mixen. Das ist nicht immer einfach. Beim Abfüllen sollte nichts daneben gehen und das Halten des Mixers ist schwierig. Herausforderungen, die es zu bewältigen gilt und die das Lernen spannend machen. Denn damit eine Situation zu einer Lernsituation wird, muss sie das Kind etwas herausfordern, aber nicht überfordern.

Um gemeinsam ans Ziel zu kommen, braucht es viel Austausch und Abstimmung zwischen den Beteiligten. Begleitet von Fragen sowie durch das Umsetzen von Anweisungen und das Anbringen von eigenen Anmerkungen entsteht nach und nach der Kuchenteig. Kristóf ist auch dabei, auch wenn er noch zu klein ist, um aktiv mithelfen zu können. Das Beobachten des Geschehens ist höchst interessant und Kristóf erfährt dadurch schon einiges. Er hört die Gespräche und sieht, wie die Mutter und seine Brüder mit den verschiedenen Geräten hantieren. Das Teilhaben am Gefühl, gemeinsam etwas zu tun, gefällt ihm. So nah am Geschehen dran und auf diese Weise involviert zu sein, ist für die sozial-emotionale Entwicklung des Kindes wertvoll.

## Holistic learning

Today is Zalán’s birthday. He has asked for a cake shaped like a hedgehog. Zalán and Csongor are allowed to help with the baking. Baking a cake together gives the children a multitude of learning opportunities. They learn not only what ingredients go into a cake and how a cake is made but also how a scale and a hand mixer work. Adding sugar by the spoonful, turning on the scale and holding the hand mixer require fine motor skills. Now and again the children are allowed to nibble, so they learn what cake batter and individual ingredients taste like. Csongor is especially interested in numbers and weights, so his mother explains that 12 dekagrams equal 120 grams. As he writes down the recipe he is also practicing written language. But the brothers are benefitting in the social domain as well: they are learning to work together, to take turns and to coordinate with each other. The list of learning experiences could go on and on. This kind of everyday situation allows children to expand their knowledge in so many different developmental domains.

## Participating and contributing

Zalán and Csongor participate eagerly in the baking activity. Zalán thinks about what he is doing and asks a question if he is unsure or does not understand something: “Why do we use such a big spoon?”, “Is this much good?”, “May I put it in?”. Csongor wants to know precisely how the cake is made and writes down the recipe. Their mother supports his self-initiative by answering his questions. Kristóf is also there in his mother’s arms and can watch what is happening. The boys’ mother is making it possible for all three children to participate in the family activitiesin age-appropriate ways. Participation is a process that demands a basic attitude of acceptance and appreciation of the value of children’s contributions and influence of adults. By including her children in everyday situations like baking a cake, this mother is giving them an active role in shaping their daily life. This gives the children a sense of belonging and the feeling that they are helpful and valuable.

## Experiential learning in the child’s everyday life

Early childhood learning cannot be promoted through instruction and conveying knowledge according to a plan made by adults. Young children want to actively explore and try things out. What they also need is the right measure of guidance and answers to their questions. Here, the boys’ mother is giving them an opportunity for learning by experience by letting them participate actively in baking the cake. Zalán is allowed to push the button on the scale, add sugar by the spoonful and mix the batter. And it is not always easy. Sugar should not be spilled, and holding on to the mixer is difficult. These are challenges to master that make learning interesting. A learning situation is a situation that challenges children but does not overwhelm them.

Achieving the common goal requires a lot of communication and coordination among the participants. The cake batter gradually comes together as the boys ask questions, follow instructions and add their own comments. Kristóf is a part of things, too, even though he is too little to help. But he is highly interested as he observes the goings-on, and he is already learning as he listens to their conversation and sees how his mother and brothers use different kitchen tools. He is enjoying sharing the feeling of doing something together. Being involved by being so close to the activityis valuable for his social-emotional development.

## Un apprentissage global

C’est aujourd’hui l’anniversaire de Zalán. Il veut un gâteau. Zalán et Csongor ont été autorisés à participer aux travaux de pâtisserie. Cette activité leur offre d’innombrables possibilités d’apprentissage. Ils n’apprennent pas seulement quels sont les ingrédients qui entrent dans la composition du gâteau et comment on prépare ce dernier, mais ils découvrent aussi comment fonctionne la balance ou le mixer. Verser le sucre, mettre en marche la balance et bien tenir le mixer exigent une grande habileté motrice. De temps en temps on a également le droit de grignoter. Les enfants font l’expérience du goût de la pâte à gâteau et des différents ingrédients. Csongor s’intéresse tout spécialement aux poids et mesures. Sa mère lui explique que douze décagrammes sont égaux à 120 grammes. En notant la recette, il s’entraîne également à la pratique de la langue écrite. Mais les deux frères assimilent également des choses sur le plan social : ils apprennent à collaborer, à faire quelque chose à tour de rôle et à se concerter. On pourrait étendre encore la liste des domaines dans lesquels ils peuvent apprendre quelque chose ici. Ce type de situation quotidienne permet à l’enfant d’étendre ses connaissances dans les domaines les plus variés.

## Participer et collaborer

Zalán et Csongor sont entièrement absorbés dans leur activité. Zalán réfléchit et pose des questions lorsqu’il n’est pas sûr ou n’a pas compris quelque chose. «Pourquoi on prend une cuillère si grande?» «C’est assez?», «J’en rajoute un tout petit peu?» Csongor, quant à lui, veut précisément savoir comment on prépare le gâteau, et il recopie la recette. Sa mère soutient cette initiative en répondant à ses questions. Kristóf, dans les bras de sa mère, suit le déroulement des opérations. La mère donne ainsi à chacun des trois enfants la possibilité de participer d’une manière adaptée à son âge. La participation est un processus qui exige des adultes qu’ils acceptent et valorisent les apports et les actions des enfants. En intégrant ses enfants dans une situation quotidienne comme la confection d’un gâteau, la mère leur permet d’avoir une influence active sur le déroulement du quotidien. Les enfants éprouvent un sentiment d’appartenance, d’utilité et de valeur.

## L’apprentissage par l’expérience dans le quotidien de l’enfant

Favoriser la formation dans la petite enfance ne passe pas par des directives et la transmission de connaissance selon un plan élaboré par les adultes. Les jeunes enfants veulent d’abord être actifs et essayer eux-mêmes. Ensuite, ils ont besoin d’instructions et de réponses à leurs questions, mais juste ce qu’il faut. La mère permet aux deux garçons d’apprendre par l’expérience en les laissant l’aider activement à la confection du gâteau. Zalán est par exemple autorisé à appuyer sur le bouton de la balance, à verser du sucre avec la cuillère, et à mixer la pâte. Cela n’est pas toujours facile. Quand on verse le sucre, il ne faut pas en mettre à côté, et il est difficile de tenir le mixer. Autant de défis qu’il s’agit de relever et qui rendent l’apprentissage passionnant. Car pour qu’une situation se prête à l’apprentissage, il faut qu’elle constitue une difficulté pour l’enfant, mais pas une difficulté insurmontable.

Pour atteindre ensemble le but, il faut beaucoup échanger, se concerter. La confection de la pâte à gâteau est accompagnée par un flux de questions, les différentes opérations correspondant à l’exécution des consignes, et des remarques faites par les enfants. Kristóf est aussi de la partie, même s’il est encore trop petit pour prendre une part active. Observer ce qui se passe est extrêmement intéressant et cela permet à Kristóf d’apprendre un certain nombre de choses. Il entend les échanges verbaux et voit comment sa mère et ses frères manipulent les ustensiles. Il apprécie d’avoir le sentiment de participer à quelque chose qui se fait ensemble. Être aussi près des événements et y être impliqué de cette manière est précieux pour le développement socio-émotionnel de l’enfant.

## Apprendimento olistico

Oggi è il compleanno di Zalàn. Ha desiderato una torta a forma di riccio. Zalàn e Csongor possono aiutare nella preparazione della torta. Prendere parte a una simile esperienza offre loro molte opportunità di apprendimento. In una simile circostanza non imparano solo a vedere quali sono gli ingredienti, ma imparano anche a capire come funziona un bilancia e un frullatore. Riuscire a travasare lo zucchero, far partire la bilancia, fermare il frullatore, presuppongono raffinate abilità motorie. Di tanto in tanto è possibile chiacchierare. Nel fare tutto ciò i bambini imparano a conoscere il gusto della pasta della torta e degli ingredienti. Csongor si interessa in modo particolare ai numeri e ai pesi. La madre spiega che dodici decagrammi corrispondono a centoventi grammi. Mentre trascrive la ricetta Csongor esercita la lingua scritta. Da questa esperienza traggono insegnamenti anche in termini sociali: imparano a fare qualche cosa insieme, a mettersi d’accordo e a scambiare punti di vista. L’elenco delle cose che vengono apprese potrebbe essere allungato a volontà. Sono le situazioni della quotidianità che danno modo ai bambini di ampliare, in vari ambiti, le loro conoscenze.

## Prendere parte e collaborare

Zalàn e Csongor prendono parte con molto impegno alla cottura della torta. Zalàn prende parte alle riflessioni, e quando è insicuro e non capisce qualche cosa, chiede. “Perché prendiamo un cucchiaio così grande?”, “Così è abbastanza?”, “Posso versare questo?” Csongor desidera sapere con esattezza come si fa la torta e, nello stesso momento, scrive la ricetta. La madre sostiene questa iniziativa autonoma dando risposta alle sue domande. Anche Kristòf partecipa all’evento dalle braccia della madre. La madre procedendo nel modo descritto, permette, contemporaneamente, ai tre bambini di prendere parte agli eventi famigliari nel rispetto delle differenze di età. La partecipazione è un processo che presuppone da parte degli adulti un atteggiamento che considera, apprezza e accetta il contributo dei bambini. Nel momento in cui la madre coinvolge i bambini in situazioni della quotidianità, com’è il caso della preparazione della torta, essa favorisce in loro la capacità di strutturazione della vita quotidiana. In questo modo i bambini si sentono partecipi, utili e valorizzati.

## Esperienze di apprendimento nella quotidianità del bambino

Non è possibile considerare la formazione della prima infanzia nei termini di una trasmissione pianificata del sapere da parte degli adulti. In primo luogo, i bambini piccoli vogliono essere attivi e sperimentare loro stessi. In secondo luogo, hanno bisogno di risposte proporzionate ed adeguate alle loro domande. La madre consente ai bambini di imparare attraverso l’esperienza in quanto concede loro di prendere parte attiva nella preparazione della torta. E’ in questo ordine di idee che Zalàn è autorizzato a schiacciare il bottone della bilancia, travasare lo zucchero con il cucchiaio e mescolare la pasta. Tutto ciò non è sempre facile. Travasando non si dovrebbe versare da parte, e tener fermo il frullatore è difficile. Fronteggiare queste sollecitazioni rendono l’apprendimento stimolante. Per fare in modo che una situazione si traduca in un contesto di apprendimento, essa deve sollecitare le capacità del bambino, senza tuttavia sovrastare le sue potenzialità.

Per giungere insieme al traguardo occorrono molti scambi e molta condivisione tra i partecipanti. Attraverso le domande, la messa in pratica delle istruzioni, e con l’aggiunta di considerazioni personali, prende gradualmente forma la pasta della torta. Anche Kristòf è presente, anche se è ancora piccolo per poter aiutare in modo attivo. Per lui l’osservazione è molto interessante e Kristòf impara alcune cose. Ascolta le conversazioni e vede come la madre e i suoi fratelli maneggiano i vari strumenti. Gli piace la partecipazione al sentimento del “fare insieme qualcosa”. Di grande valore è il sentirsi vicini e partecipi in questo modo all’evento, è così che si contribuisce allo sviluppo socio-emotivo del bambino.
